On July 6, 2017, the Ambassador to Cyprus, Mr. Huang Xingyuan, accepted an exclusive interview with CCN, a Chinese radio station in Cyprus, and answered questions from reporters on China’s economic situation, China-Cyprus relations, the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the series of “Heart is the Same” cultural activities between China and Cyprus, and other Cyprus issues.
Ambassador Huang first expressed his congratulations on the launch of CNN in Cyprus, detailed the current economic situation in China, the spirit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s speech at the 11th Summer Davos Forum, and the “One Belt and Road Initiative”. Ambassador Huang expressed the hope that CCN will give full play to its unique advantages, actively and objectively reporting on the domestic development situation in China, tell Chinese stories well, spread the voice of China well, and vigorously promote the excellent Chinese culture so that the local people and resident Chinese can better understand China. At the same time, he hopes that CCN will become better and better, and make new contributions to the promotion of mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador Huang emphasized that with the steady recovery of the Cypriot economy and the gradual implementation of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, China-Cyprus trade and economic cooperation has vast potential. The economic and trade relations between the two countries are ushering in a period of new strategic opportunities. He hopes both sides can seize the opportunity, actively develop pragmatic cooperation in the fields of energy, tourism, shipping, communications, and push China-Cyprus relations to a new level.
