The city of Ayia Napa closes the year 2018 with investment of € 400,000,000, Guinness Records, Tourist Conferences and the offices of Municipality  in Hong Kong.

A press conference was held on Wednesday, 26th September 2018 within the framework of the 34th Ayia Napa International Festival by Ayia Napa Mayor Mr. Yiannis Karousos in the presence of former Ambassador from China Mr. Zhao Yali and the Chairman of the CGA Cyprus Guangdong Association of Commerce Mr. Yang Deming.

Mr. Karousos in the memorandum of cooperation signed the last April in Ayia Napa with the city of Guangdong in China, analyzed the tourist, business, investment and cultural connection between the two cities and noted that the investment activity of Chinese businessmen in recent years in the wider area of Famagusta is rapidly growing. (The Municipality of Ayia Napa has also been twinned with the city of Lebanon.)

Investments over €400,000,000 in recent years in Ayia Napa

Specifically, he made special reference to the two big investment projects are currently taking place in the area and are expected to exceed  the budget of €400,000,000. With €300,000,000 being spent on the erection of Marina in Ayia Napa and the another €100,000,000 will be send it in the first mixed development project in the area including a five-star Sun City hotel with 191 beds.

It is noteworthy that the municipality of Ayia Napa has concluded overall 3 agreements with the city of Guangdong, a city with a population of almost 120,000,000 people and GDP. $360,000,000,000 per year.

At the press conference, and within the framework of the 34th Ayia Napa International Festival, the 27th September was proclaimed today as of Cypriot-Chinese Day of cooperation, and it was announced that from now on, there will be Chinese cultural events at the next Ayia Napa Festivals.

The opening of the offices in Hong Kong in corporation with C.G.A Cyprus Guangdong Association of Commerce is one more success of Municipality of Ayia Napa to make even more use of the two-country tourism alliance, “One belt one road” which as mentioned is a characteristic phrase of the Chinese people

1st Ayia Napa Tourist Conference

In mid-October, the 1st Ayia Napa Tourism Conference is expected to host 10 of China’s largest tourist offices to develop cooperation and promotion of both Cyprus and the Famagusta region. Officials said that they expected to attract even more tourists from Asia and to give a financial injection to the companies of Famagusta.

Mass Weddings in Ayia Napa – Guinness Record

The municipality’s goal is to successfully organize mass marriages in the City’s beach to bring the effort of the Guinness record in February 2019. This organization is already being preparing by the responsible bodies and we hope to turn the worldviews in our small Cyprus once again. The choice of February is not accidental, since you may consider  that is an inactive period for Cypriot tourism but for the Chinese people it is the best holiday month.

Mr Zhao Yali, former Chinese Ambassador, in his own statements feels excited returning to the island after nine years, in fluent Greek said that he is at the disposal of local authorities and will offer his knowledge and services for the cooperation between both countries and the two cities at commercial, investment and cultural level. Characteristically refer the importance of mutual respect, mutual support and bilateral relations between China and Cyprus, as the diplomacy among the cities.

Concluding Mr Yang Deming the President of the organization of C.G.A Cyprus Guangdong Association of Commerce informed about the organization’s goals and the ways of promoting Guangdong’s Commercial, Tourist and Investment Relationships within the spirit of solidarity and mutual aid, as well as creating conditions for a harmonious Chinese community in Cyprus.
